Professional Dry Cleaners Association Inc - TRAINING March 24th/25th in Perth
We have a training workshop coming up on March 24th/25th with Laundry Dry Cleaning Training (LDCT) providing the training.
It will cover the first 4 modules towards Certificate 111 in Dry Cleaning, and this as this is the first workshop we have held of this type for some time, it will be at no charge to those attending.
It is open to all cleaners, members of PDA and non members, so that they have access to LDCT to complete their training. LDCT will attend individual workplaces to complete the modules in the week following the workshop.

World Market for Modern Textile Care
The next Texcare International will be hold from 5 to 9 May 2012 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Baltimore to Host International Drycleaners Congress – May 11-14, 2012.
International Drycleaners Congress members will gather in beautiful Baltimore, Maryland, for IDC Convention 2012. The Hyatt Regency at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore will host the four-day event May 11-14, 2012. The Congress will bring together drycleaners from all over the world for networking, international reports and discussions about the future of the textile care industry. Industry leaders are being invited to speak on a variety of topics, ranging from new technological advances to marketing strategies.
The preliminary schedule:
• May 12 — 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Convention activities, 6 p.m. Reception and Gala Dinner.
• Sunday, May 13 — 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Convention activities (rest of the day free).
• Monday, May 14 — Visit to Drycleaning & Laundry Institute headquarters in Laurel, Maryland
IDC president for 2012 is Louise Hallak, of Hallak Cleaners, New York City.

VILA SEMINAR MAY 16 - 19 BALLARAT
The VILA/TRLA Vic seminar is to be held at the Mercure Ballarat 16-19 May 2012. This is advance notice so that you can all ink in these dates while you wait for registrations and programme to be sent out.
The program will include;
The impact of the Carbon Tax. How will it work; who will pay & how much will it cost?
Innovative Thinking. A really interesting session on the various types of thinkers we need in an organisation !
How we can maximise the use of IT within our businesses.( eg social networking, robots etc)
The importance of energy reduction in our plants will be addressed by;
Maximising efficiency of Air Compressors
Boiler and steam trap maintenance.
Ironer maintenance.
Management of workplace injuries is important for all types and size of business . Early Intervention for work injuries is a useful tool to learn about managing this issue.
Road Transport in the future; emission controls, fuel alternatives, carrying regulations will allow us to look at what the future holds in road transport regulations.
We are unlikely to have any overseas representatives in Australia at this time as the Messer Frankfurt exhibition has changed their dates to clash with our seminar !!

Textile Care Federation of New Zealand, 14th, 15th and 16th of September, 2012
Ricky Brackfield, President of the Textile Care Federation of New Zealand has advised details for their next conference. It will be held at The Spencer on Byron in Auckland on the 14th, 15th and 16th of September 2012. No firm guest speakers are announced as yet, but these will be updated as the program firms up.
